LIGHTING THE WAY…

CB LighthouseThe LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

To the ancients, light was preferable to darkness hands down, with the only exception being a time to sleep.  The darkness held terrors for both those on land and sea but especially for those who at any moment could have their ship dashed on the rocks.  It is no wonder that lighthouses were built to aid in navigation going back thousands of years.  It is also no accident that light and salvation are mentioned in the same breath by the psalmist in this passage of scripture.  He certainly got the connection, as should we.

Pictured here is the lighthouse that provides assistance to mariners finding their way past Cape Bonavista, Newfoundland.
