A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT…

The River ClydeHe is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.

                                                                            Psalms 1:3

In this verse, the psalmist is talking about the nature of the blessed person.  One of the most refreshing thoughts that can be ours is that we are not alone in this world.  We fend for ourselves and do fairly well for a while but it is good to know that when we running on empty, God is always ready to refresh our lives when our roots are deep in his kingdom.  A tree planted near the river couldn’t ask any more.

The scene in this picture is the River Clyde in Prince Edward Island, Canada.  The flowers on the bank are Lupins.  These northern wildflowers grace many a field, hill and roadside in Atlantic Canada and northern coastal New England.

THE PRINCIPAL OF THE HARVEST

Wheatfield

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

                                                           John 12:24

Here Jesus speaks of the concept of multiplication and the harvest.  Unless the seed gets into the ground and changes from what it is into what it will become, there is no harvest and the seed never serves its real purpose; the purpose of one bringing forth many.

The picture of athe wheatfield shown here was taken near Stratford, Ontario.
